Position Overview
A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations with a strong focus on fixed assets, inventory accounting, and job costing. This role will partner closely with operations and finance leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain inventory integrity, and support month-end close activities.
The ideal candidate will bring a solid accounting foundation, experience in a manufacturing environment, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting
- Prepare and post journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Support financial statement preparation and variance analysis.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger.
- Assist with external audits and ad hoc financial reporting requests.
Fixed Asset Accounting
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
- Record asset additions, disposals, transfers, and adjustments.
- Reconcile fixed asset subledgers to the general ledger.
- Support annual physical asset inventories and capital expenditure tracking.
Inventory Accounting
- Monitor inventory transactions and ensure accurate inventory valuation.
- Analyze inventory balances, reserves, and adjustments.
- Reconcile inventory accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Partner with operations to improve inventory controls and reporting accuracy.
- Support cycle counts and physical inventory processes.
Job Costing & Manufacturing Accounting
- Track and analyze costs associated with projects, production runs, and jobs.
- Review labor, material, and overhead allocations for accuracy.
- Analyze manufacturing variances and support management reporting.
- Assist with standard cost updates and cost accounting initiatives.
- Partner with production and operations teams to improve cost visibility and profitability analysis.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Fixed Asset Accounting
- Inventory Accounting
- Job Costing or Cost Accounting
- Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills, including:
- Pivot Tables
- VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
- Data analysis and reconciliation functions
- Ability to manage deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
